From 27 Sept - 6th Oct we will honour traditional forms of ZEIBEKIKO with Yiannis Pagkozidis respected teacher and musician from Greece. Dance workshops will include Karsilamathes, Aptalikous and traditional Zeibekika from Asia Minor. Additional workshops for dances of Cappadokia and Pontus are scheduled with Yianni Pagkozidis whom has done extensive research work in this field.

We will celebrate and dance the Laiko till modern date Zeibekiko with the internationally acclaimed fromCyprus Master of Zeibekiko CHRISTOS SHAKALLIS!

2ND JULY CYPRIOT DANCE WORKHOPS - SYDNEY

ABOUT
Christos Shakallis will be conducting Cypriot dance & zeibekikos workshops on Sunday 2nd July at the Cyprus Community Club, all day for the Cyprus Community dance groups from 11am.
The club cafe will be open all day. Christos Shakallis will lunch downstairs in cafe area and will happily meet greet and sign autographs from 1.30 - 2pm
We open a class to the general public Cypriot dance workshop

ABOUT
CHRISTOS SHAKALLIS will take you on a journey through the GREEK BLUES REMBETIKO ERA.
Bring your KOMBOLOI ,HAT, GREEK CHAIR, YELEKO (Vest) and learn a new artform !!!!
6.30pm -8.30pm seminar/workshop.
8.30pm -10.30pm we transform the workshop into an intimate taverna night. Wine, dine and take the opportunity to spend time with Christos and the gang, and enjoy more dance, till 10.30pm.
$85 .00 includes ouzo shot, rembetiko workshop & dinner taverna - food/mezethes and dessert by Kouzina Catering. Max 85 people.

6TH JULY TRADITIONAL GROUP OF ZEIBEKIKO DANCES

ABOUT
The lesson will be conducted with LIVE MUSIC under the instruction of MIXALIS PLATYRARHOS
(Outi, toumberleki, violin & guitar).
Did you know that the ZEIBEKIKO FAMILY of dances are rich, not only historically, but dance variations from different regions of Greece and Asia Minor?
The popular ZEIBEKIKO dance as we know it today migrated to Greece after the Asia Minor Catastrophe with the exchange of populations in 1922.
Zeibekikos holds great historic significance was danced in different forms by our forefathers.
We will explore these forms including: Aptaliko, Karsilamathes, Kamilieriko,Smyrneiko, Vrakathiko, Mytilinis, Fokiano, and of course include the Cypriot Zeibekiko.
Ticket includes seminar ,LIVE BAND instructed by Mixalis Platyrarhos.
9-11pm buffet Politiko style dinner from KOUZINA CATERING in line with our theme - served after seminar with LIVE MUSIC in taverna room.
